Rare 12 antique 1900 Black African cloth doll made with early cloth fabrics and hand stitched embroidered eyes, brows, nose, and mouth. She has an unusual black cloth body with bent elbows and individual hand stitched fingers with fingernails inserted into each finger.
The doll wears a traditional tribal design It has several bright cotton print fabrics combine d in her dress & headscarf with cloth fruit sewn on it. There is an original matching slip and panties sewn under her dress. She wears two different painted seed necklaces sewn onto to her. The paint is worn from the brown seeds.Her chubby legs are well made with very detailed cloth slippers with blue bow decoration on toes! She appears all original with light wear fray at cut edge, some discolor to the fabric and some wear. Her unusual body is made for her elbows to bend forward to show her beautiful nails! The doll appears to be possibly made in Africa around the turn of the century judging the fabrics used. No stains, no smells, comes from a non smoking home.
