Handmade and absolutely authentic, this gorgeous ceremonial huipil is waist length, meant to be worn with a skirt. It is vintage 1972 and comes from Aldalmas or possibly San Andrés Larrainzar in Mexico. Backstrap-loomed, two pieces, joinedat center with colored cotton stitching, white cotton, multicolored and predominantly red cotton and wool two faced supplementary weftbrocading, geometric designs, excellent condition.
Bought by a collector in Mexico in 1972 and kept in a private collection since then. The artistry in embroidery is spectacular. Please refer to photos for inside out view.
