Here is a nice pair of Native American plains style beaded moccasins. These were personally found in a dilapidated log cabin on the land where I lived on the Fort Peck Sioux-Assiniboine Indian Reservation in Montana. I found them in 1975, and have been enjoying them in my collection since. But now, it is time to allow someone else to enjoy them.
I had these moccasins looked at by an expert-dealer-appraiser many years ago, and he thought they were of Cree origin. I suppose that easily could be since the Cree are related to the Sioux and Assiniboine and their historical territory is.
The cabin in which I found them was said to have been built around 1890. The person who looked at the moccasins thought they were made around 1905-10. The moccasins are about 4" by 4" by 2 1/2, tan, uncolored buckskin with red and blue beads. And about the size of seed beads. The design shows a nice floral pattern. They show some wear as the soles are a little creased due to walking in them. They are as dusty as they were when I found them. I have never cleaned them.
